Motorcycle accidents raise unique issues for Virginia riders

Many Virginia motorcycle enthusiasts may agree that riding a motorcycle is equal parts freedom and danger. The danger largely comes from the fact that riders are nowhere near as protected as drivers of passenger and commercial vehicles. This raises some unique issues when it comes to motorcycle accidents.

Virginia State Police may have located driver in fatal accident

Virginia State Police combed the area looking for a driver who fled the scene of a crash on foot. A man believed to be that driver was found at a hospital in the area. At last report, he was being questioned regarding his suspected involvement in the fatal accident.

Driver of flatbed tractor-trailer charged with reckless driving

Interstate 64 was recently the site of a deadly accident involving multiple vehicles. The tractor-trailer driver believed responsible for the crash has so far been charged with reckless driving. The Virginia State Police report that additional charges may be filed at the conclusion of the investigation.

Virginia traffic stop gone bad leads to car accident

On a recent Saturday afternoon, a trooper with the Virginia State Police pulled over a car on the eastbound side of Interstate 66. When the vehicle was originally stopped, the driver was asked to exit the vehicle and was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant issued by a police department in the area where the traffic stop had taken place. What happened next ended in a car accident involving three passenger vehicles.

Some Thoughts on Auto Insurance in Virginia

Our firm frequently represents people injured in motor vehicle collisions.  Many times, the party causing the collision has inadequate insurance to cover the damages our client has suffered. Virginia law only requires that an automobile have minimum liability insurance coverage of $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident.  Those figures have not changed in over 30 years.  We feel those amounts were inadequate 30 years ago, and are certainly out of date today.
