Drunk driver in Virginia hits pedestrian causing injuries

Driving a car is a tremendous responsibility. Another person’s life is literally in the hands of the driver. If the driver chooses not to take this responsibility seriously, individuals can be hurt. The driver can ignore this responsibility in many ways. One of the most serious ways that a driver can fail to live up to the this responsibility is by getting behind the wheel while drunk.

A drunk driver often lacks the mental awareness and the physical capacity to avoid a serious car accident. A person’s mind and body are not working together and a person’s reaction time is significantly slowed. This is a deadly combination.

Recently, this combination resulted in a drunk driving car accident in Virginia. According to reports, a 30-year-old woman hit a pedestrian while driving under the influence. Following the accident, police found the woman’s car on its side and the pedestrian with serious injuries. The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital to be treated for a broken leg and for a cut to the back of the man’s head.

The woman also suffered minor injuries in the accident. She was eventually charged with refusing a blood test and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Drunk driving accidents have the potential to cause serious injuries. As can be seen in this case, the drunk drivers often fail to follow basic rules and cause these very serious accidents.

When a drunk driver is responsible for causing a car accident, that driver made also be held financially responsible for the accident. In a personal injury suit, drunk driving accident victims can collect compensation for their medical expenses, lost wages and more.
