Virginia drivers can account for several different types of obstacles while driving. However, there are times when an obstacle is so completely unexpected that it is not possible to prepare for it as it crashes into an unsuspecting driver. This is what happened to one driver as he was heading south on Interstate 95 on Jan. 24.
A vehicle traveling in the same direction as the driver suddenly veered off the left side of the road right into a crash cushion. It then flew into the air, flipped over and landed on the driver without warning. The driver had no opportunity to avoid being crushed under the weight of the other vehicle when it crashed down upon his.
Sadly, but not surprisingly, the driver suffered fatal injuries and never had a chance to receive medical attention before passing away at the scene. The 24-year-old driver of the airborne vehicle and his 53-year-old mother suffered serious injuries in the crash. Emergency personnel transported the two via helicopter to an area hospital for treatment. No charges have been filed as yet, but the investigation into the crash in ongoing.
No family is ever prepared for the news that a loved one has been ripped from them by something so sudden and violent as a car accident. In the aftermath of these Virginia crashes, the surviving family members of the man that was crushed are entitled to file a wrongful death claim seeking financial reparations for the damages incurred as a result of the tragedy. However, that will never make up for the hole created in their family by the apparent negligence of another.
