Elderly woman killed in Virginia car accident

On Behalf of | Jul 2, 2015 | Car Accidents

Car accidents can often lead to serious injuries, including internal and external bleeding due to fractures. Additionally, car accident victims can also suffer from spinal cord and neck injuries as well as brain injuries and head injuries. In many cases, authorities have determined that a particular car accident may have been easily prevented if the driver at fault had obeyed the traffic rules.

Car accidents sometimes also injure pedestrians and people riding bicycles and motorcycles as well as causing severe injuries to the occupants of other cars that they might have crashed into. In such cases, Virginia state laws allow the victim as well as their loved ones to initiate a lawsuit not only against the car driver but also against the insurance company in order to recover compensation for the pain and suffering and monetary loss suffered during treatment and rehabilitation as a result of the accident.

Recently, a 70-year-old Virginia woman was killed in a car accident involving three vehicles. The preliminary accident investigation conducted by the police revealed that the driver of another car had not taken the necessary precautions when turning right which resulted in the fatality. After hitting the first car on the driver’s side, the car then rolled over to crash into another car. The driver of the second car was also injured and needed medical treatment.

Obeying traffic laws is not only necessary to avoid arrests and lawsuits but also to promote safety and share the road with other vehicles and people. In many cases, traffic violations, such as ignoring stop signs, taking wrong turns and speeding, are increased during the night. It becomes dangerous when visibility is reduced, especially in the evening, and, therefore, more difficult to adhere to the traffic laws. The car driver may be arrested in such cases and the person may face severe penalties in a case where a car accident has injured another person due to the driver’s negligence or carelessness.
