Many parents in the Danville area send their children to school on the bus every day. Taking the bus to school is one of the safest ways for kids to get to school. Unfortunately, car drivers do not always pay attention to buses and accidents occur.

A school bus accident occurred on Monday in Henry County. The bus was letting kids off while on Route 220 north, just south of Oak Level Road. According to the state police a car neglected to stop and hit the bus from behind. Two children, ages 10 and 12, were taken to a local hospital. The car’s driver was charged with reckless driving.

The thought of their child getting injured on a school bus can be a parent’s worst nightmare. Inattentive drivers who ignore school bus’s stop signs and flashing lights can cause a car accident with serious injuries.

If a family has been affected by a school bus accident or a car accident they should understand their legal rights. In order to get the full story about what happened in the accident, it might be necessary to visit the accident scene, interview witnesses, and conduct a full investigation. If negligence was found the negligence party can be held responsible for their actions. Compensation can be available for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering and other damages.

School buses are one of the safest way to transport kids to and from school. When a bus is involved in an accident it can be very scary for the kids and their parents. Holding a person accountable for their negligence is important in making sure school bus accidents remain rare.
